Colombian President: The same story between yesterday’s Hiroshima and today’s Gaza
Colombian President Gustavo Petro likened the Gaza Strip to the city of Hiroshima, on which the United States dropped an atomic bomb during World War II.Regarding the news of the death of Palestinians from starvation in Gaza, Petro commented in a post on his account on the “X” platform, saying: “When the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, more than 77 thousand people died.” Today, in a country much smaller than Japan, in Palestine, in a city even smaller than Hiroshima: more than 32,000 people died in the bombing of Gaza. Same story.”Petro pointed to the devastation inflicted on Gaza, accusing the major powers of using excessive and unconscious military force in order to impose their will on all of humanity. In a previous post, the Colombian president called on all countries to sever their relations with Israel if they did not comply with the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.“Finally, the UN Security Council unanimously decided on a ceasefire in Gaza,” Petro said.He added: “If Israel violates this ceasefire resolution, I call on the countries of the world to sever their diplomatic relations with that country.”
