Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continued their dominance over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with a convincing seven-wicket victory in the 10th match of IPL 2024. The win extends KKR’s winning streak against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to a remarkable six consecutive victories.
Despite losing their skipper Faf du Plessis early, RCB put up a decent total of 182/6 on the board, powered by a stellar knock from Virat Kohli. The former skipper remained unbeaten on a well-made 83 runs off 59 deliveries, showcasing glimpses of his vintage form.
RCB Bowling Under Scrutiny
However, KKR’s batting line-up proved too strong for RCB’s bowling attack. Openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine got their team off to a blistering start, with Narine, in particular, playing a crucial all-rounder’s role. He first bagged a wicket for 40 runs with his bowling and then smashed a quickfire 47 off just 22 balls with the bat, earning him the Player of the Match award.

RCB’s bowling attack, a cause for concern lately, failed to live up to expectations yet again. Key pacers Mohammed Siraj, Alzarri Joseph and Yash Dayal conceded a lot of runs, with their economy rates exceeding 11 runs per over. This lack of control allowed KKR to chase down the target comfortably in just 16.5 overs, with 19 balls to spare.
Michael Vaughan Questions RCB’s Prospects
Following this defeat, which dropped RCB to the sixth position in the points table, former England captain Michael Vaughan took to social media platform ‘X’ to express his doubts over the Bengaluru-based franchise winning the IPL.
Impossible for @RCBTweets to win the IPL with this bowling attack,” tweeted Vaughan.

Looking Ahead for RCB
With two points lost and their bowling woes exposed, it will be intriguing to see how RCB addresses these issues. Can they find a way to plug the leaks in their bowling attack and stage a comeback in the ongoing tournament?
