Royal Challengers Bangalore takes on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 10 of IPL 2024 on Friday. RCB will be playing back-to-back games at home. They are heading into the game against KKR after winning against Punjab Kings.
Virat Kohli anchored the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a win against the Kings chasing 177 to win. Cameos from Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror helped the cause.
It was almost a clinical game for RCB against Punjab Kings. Their bowlers were on point and the batters chased down the score perfectly. The bowling attack conceded 176 as a unit in the game against Punjab Kings which was decent. RCB not conceding over 200 was a moral victory for the side.
Unlike their loss against CSK, the RCB batters had more intent in the match to score runs against Punjab Kings. They will be up against a team who have a better head-to-head record in Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the last five games against KKR, RCB have lost four and won just one. However, playing at home, they will back themselves to deliver. It will be interesting to see whether they make any changes to their playing XI.
RCB Playing 11 vs KKR- IPL 2024, Match 10
Virat Kohli
Kohli is fresh off a 77 against Punjab Kings and will open the batting. He has scored 98 runs in the first two games. He scored 639 runs last year. He has now gone past 12000 T20 runs.
Faf du Plessis (C)
Faf is the skipper of the side and will open with Virat Kohli. He scored three in the previous game and just 38 in the first two games. He has the tough task of leading RCB to an IPL title win.
Cameron Green
Green can bat at three. He has not had the start he would have hoped for after joining RCB. He scored just three in the last game and bowled two overs. He scored over 450 runs for Mumbai Indians last year.
Rajat Patidar
Patidar will slot in at four. He has not been in good form since the Test series against England. He did not score too many in the first two games wither scoring just 18 in the previous game.
Glenn Maxwell
Maxwell will slot in at five. He has scored just three runs in IPL 2023 so far. He scored a duck in the first game against CSK and just three against Punjab Kings.
Anuj Rawat
Rawat can bat at six. He scored 48 against CSK but failed to replicate his form against Punjab Kings scoring just 11 off 14 balls in the last game.
Dinesh Karthik (WK)
He played handy cameos of 38 and 28 in the first two games. He scored 28 off 10 balls against Punjab Kings. Karthik spoke about this being his last IPL season and he has a chance to get to 5000 IPL runs.
Mahipal Lomror
Lomror can bat at number eight. He scored 17 off 8 balls against Punjab Kings which was the typical cameo needed at that point for RCB. His big-hitting prowess is handy for RCB. RCB can also look to bring in Karn Sharma as the specialist leg spinner.
Mohammed Siraj
Siraj will lead the pace attack for RCB. He picked up 2 for 26 against Punjab Kings. The pacer has been backed to the hilt by the management. He now has 70 wickets for RCB.
Mayank Dagar
Dagar will be the specialist left-arm spinner in the XI. He bowled a spell of none for 34 in the last game and bowled two overs for 12 runs against CSK.
Joseph concludes the likely Royal Challengers Bangalore XI against KKR. So far in the first two games he has been expensive and picked up just one wicket.
Impact Sub- Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal might be used as the Impact Sub. He was used in that role for the first two games as well. He picked up 1/23 in the last game and two wickets overall so far.
